Escrima Sticks
Tiger Rattan RATING
- 5 STARS
I did a lot of web searching for a good pair of sticks at
a good price and I found these at
superfoot.com They are 26" long and one inch in dia which I felt were maybe an inch too long for me, but the 1" Diameter seemed just
right for my hand and gripping.
The price was unbeatable, but I believe they are a generic stick as I saw the same stick on several sites
with different prices. The price for two with shipping was the best out there. They arrived on time with no delay.
As for durability they have lasted through some abuse, but I have
already broken one off seven inches down from the end over a good sized tree trunk. Using it for thrusting
I have noticed fraying after light to medium use on the end, but that's to be expected. I also had large sections of
the chip right off of the butt end. Overall I think the grade of rattan wasn't very good, but for the price you
can't beat it.
Bottom Line:
Overall I would recommend it to a beginner of the Filipino Martial Arts or someone
training without a partner and without striking any surface. You can purchase these at

Standing Boxing Bag
WaveMaster Traditional RATING
- 6 STARS
I have personally put this bag through a lot
of work. I didn't purchase this equipment I rescued it from the dust in someones garage so I won't be giving
a website, but you can get these just about anywhere on the net.
The biggest dissapointment for me was the fact that I was almost
always knocking it over which became very frustrating. I weigh about 140lbs and I have an older version of the bag with
the octagon shaped base with the regular bag attachment. The bag has held up well to all kinds of abuse
including training knives and escrima sticks. The base has cracked at the seam where the bag locks in place and
no longer holds water due to striking the base without the bag on it as a conditioning exercise in my training.
I also didn't like the fact that it slides upward on certain
strikes also and sometimes became unlocked sliding down to it's lowest position during use.
Bottom Line:
Overall I think it's a valuable piece of training equipment for
those of us that don't have room for a hanging bag, but it certainly does not replace a good hanging heavy bag. It has
it's advantages as you can practice sweeps, but doesn't replace the OLD School bag.
